About
Casey Comeau
Indie game developer · Unity
My background is in programming and engineering, but over time I got just as into the art and feel of games. What I'm working toward is pretty simple: doing this full-time as a Unity developer.
My story
Thanks for stopping by. I've worked on a bit of everything: MMO private servers, game mods, full original games, custom software, and development tools. Every one of them taught me something and pushed me a little further.
These days I mostly build in Unity. I like the whole process, from figuring out how a system should work to getting the moment-to-moment feel right, then fixing all the little things until it actually plays well.
The journey so far
How I got into it
I started young, making little things like a Pong clone, and I just never stopped.
Servers and mods
I spent a lot of time on MMO private servers and game mods. That’s where I really learned how big systems fit together.
Quick prototypes
Browser experiments like Tiny RPG, Slime Onslaught, and Slime Pet, most of them built in a week or less just to try ideas out.
Something bigger
Dragons Keep, an online fantasy RPG with a networked Unity client and a dedicated server, classes, equipment, and real-time multiplayer.
My first release
Cave Diver, the first game I took all the way to a Steam launch.
Right now
Two bigger games in progress: Nameless, a classless crafting RPG, and Orc Onslaught, a high-fantasy wave-defense game.
